PLDT-Smart Foundation’s GABAY GURO GRAND GATHERING 2018

A teacher is a person who helps others to acquire knowledge, competences or values.


We all know, a teacher is more than a professor and an instructor, they are our second parents in our second home, the classroom. September is National Teacher’s Month, and PLDT_Smart Foundation is advocating the importance of education by supporting local teachers for 11 years now. Gaby Guro was created in the year 2007 to honor and empower teachers across the Philippines with different programs like housing and educational facilities, scholarships, trainings, livelihood programs, innovations, tributes and broadbanding and computerization of local schools. For more than a decade, Gaby Guro already donated several classrooms, scholarship grants and fortify over 40,000 educators.

To celebrate the milestone, the foundation gather thousands of teachers from public and private sectors all over the country for a night to remember, the Gabay Guro Grand Gathering 2018.

The event was held at the Mall of Asia Arena last September 23 and was organized to be this year’s biggest tribute to all the Filipino teachers. An exclusive to teachers concert of Philippines brightest stars like Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Ogie Alcasid, Martin Nievera, Jaya, Gabby Conception, and many more.


The highlight of this event for me would be the impromptu duet of Martin Nievera and DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones and Gary V’s sing and dance number with his son and daughter. The event aside from being star-studded was also jampacked with raffle prizes – gift certificates, smartphones and other gadgets, home appliances, livelihood packages, vehicles, cash prizes and a brand new house and lot!

Congratulations PLDT-Smart Foundation for the successful big event and thank you for honoring our second parents at school, the teachers. And thank you for having me!

We will never be what we are now, if not through the help, patience and guidance of our dear teachers. Thank you!
