Swimming is the self-propulsion of a person through water, usually for recreation, sport, exercise, or survival, it is a great workout because you need to move your whole body against the resistance of the water. It keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off your body. Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness simultaneously. It helps maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and lungs. Although swimming is a low-impact workout, it produces high-power results. It is typically considered an aerobic exercise, but exercising in water also provides moderate resistance that improves balance, sleep and bone health. Swimming is one of my favorite thing to do; as long as the water is just above my shoulder, I'll be fine floating and moving in the water.
